Ex-Abbott exec Simhambhatla is new Alphaeon CEO
Healthcare and social commerce company Alphaeon said last week it tapped former Abbott (NYSE:ABT) senior veep Dr. Murthy Simhambhatla as its new CEO and president, replacing Robert Grant who was recently appointed as vice chair of the company’s board of directors.
Dr. Simhambhatla previously operated as a senior partner Strathspey Crown, and held Abbott positions before his time at Strathspey Crown.
He joined Abbott through the acquisition of Guidant‘s vascular business in 2006, where he served as veep and GM over the company’s drug eluting stent biz.
“I am honored to join Alphaeon at this exciting time. I believe that the company is uniquely positioned to disrupt lifestyle healthcare through innovative products and its social commerce engine, ShoutMD. I look forward to joining the Alphaeon employees and physician partners around the world as we work together to advance the company to new heights,” Dr. Simhambhatla said in prepared remarks.
