Becton Dickinson & Co. (NYSE:BDX) and expert consultation firm Guidepoint said today they are partnering to help provide Guidepoint’s expert network services to select healthcare startups.
Through the arrangement, Guidepoint will arrange consultations between selected healthcare entrepreneurs and experts in their fields, the companies said. The advisors will be either members of Guidepoint’s 225,000 person network or custom-recruits.
“As BD continues to expand its commitment to fostering innovation, we are excited about partnering with Guidepoint to tap into their independent network of global experts and benefit some of the most promising healthcare start-ups. Finding and nurturing cutting-edge technologies that will improve healthcare delivery and outcomes is at the core of our innovation efforts, and we realize that such opportunities will not just come from within our walls,” executive veep of R&D Dr. Ellen Strahlman said in a press release.
Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based BD is mentoring several healthcare startups with the help of Guidepoint research managers, the company said.
The strategy is part of a new initiative within the company to find and nurture new growth and development in healthcare and medical technology, BD said.
