Medtronic debuts new spinal implantMedtronic (NYSE:MDT) said today it launched the CD Horizon Solera Voyager spinal system designed for minimally invasive spine procedures.

The announcement was made at the 22nd annual International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Horizon Solera Voyager offers multiple minimally invasive rod insertion options for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion procedures, the Fridley, Minn.-based company said.

“Medtronic is known for our life-changing innovations and groundbreaking technologies. That legacy – along with our broad portfolio and collaborative partnerships – enables us to truly make an impact on patient care. This system represents our commitment to take minimally invasive techniques and 3D-navigated surgery even further and develop solutions with clinical and economic value,” Medtronic spinal prez Doug King said in a press release.

The system allows both percutaneous and Wiltse minimally invasive rod insertion and features a low-profile, extended-tab screw with inner threading, Medtronic said.

Last October, Medtronic released a new line of spinal implants made of a titanium-plastic combination for interbody fusion procedures.
