Fujifilm SonoSite wins CE Mark for iViz mobile ultrasound

FujiFilm Sonosite Fujifilm (TSE:4901) said its SonoSite subsidiary won CE Mark approval in the European Union for its iViz handheld mobile ultrasound device.

The device is a next-generation hand-held platform for ultrasound, operated through a high-resolution 7-inch touchscreen. The device features Wi-Fi and bluetooth connectivity and access ports for USB, HDMI and audio, according to the Bothell, Wash.-based company.

“Fujifilm SonoSite delivers a powerful and valuable solution to the market with the launch of iViz. It is a revolutionary tool that reaches new levels of mobility, image performance, and connectivity. Clinicians will now have access to technology that can be used on-the move, in-the-field or on-the ground,” Sonosite CEO Masayuki Higuchi said in prepared remarks.

The iViz allows the operator to access patient vitals, online applications and learning resources, according to FujiFilm. The device can also be integrated into the hospital IT and electronic medical records systems to obtain and submit patient demographics and reports.

Last year, FujiFilm Sonosite landed a Dept. of Defense contract worth up to $39.7 million, according to a federal memo.

The deal represents the 5th of up to 7 1-year options for radiology systems, subsystems and components.
